Monte Vista Village Brightens Spirits of Military Families

Valiant Veteran’s Club Hosts the Community to Raise Funds at Holiday Tea Party.

SAN DIEGO (Lemon Grove), Calif. (Nov. 28, 2011) The Valiant Veteran’s Club at Monte Vista Village is helping raise funds for enlisted military and their families. Monte Vista Village will be hosting a Holiday Tea Party on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The community and family and friends of Monte Vista Village residents are invited and welcome to the afternoon event. With a donation of five dollars per person, you can enjoy traditional finger sandwiches, scones, tea and a few culinary surprises.

Funds raised from the Holiday Tea Party will benefit the Fifth Annual Christmas Dinner hosted by the Valiant Veteran’s Club.  Families from the community who have loved ones enlisted in the military will be invited to the dinner. The Fifth Annual Christmas Dinner will show support and appreciation to the enlisted military and their families for the sacrifices they are making for our freedom.

Recognizing that the holidays are especially hard on enlisted military’s families who are apart from their loved ones, the Holiday Tea Party fundraising event will help give back to families of men and women serving our country. With your support, the Holiday Tea Party is aiming to raise $10,000, which will provide 50 deserving enlisted military families with gift certificates at the Fifth Annual Christmas Dinner.

“In today’s busy world, it is easy for folks to forget all that the military men and women and their families are doing for each one of us. The Valiant Vets Club at Monte Vista Village wanted to not only recognize and thank them, but help make the holiday season a little brighter,” states Maria Shetler, executive director of Monte Vista Village. “We know that it makes a difference by the notes of gratitude we have received in years past.”

The Fifth Annual Christmas Dinner is made possible from the Holiday Tea Party fundraising event, Monte Vista Village residents, along with Belville Pharmacy, Friendship Mission International, John B. Goodman, Mission Hills Fabric Care, Mission Home Health, Moda Hair Design, Paradise Valley Federal Credit Union, San Diego’s District Attorney’s Office, Sidney A. Goodman, Sir Walter Chapter of the British Empire, The Latta Corporation, The Planning Element and Therapy Specialist.

Monte Vista Village’s Valiant Veteran’s Club welcomes all veterans, of any age. Most of the members are residents of the community. The purpose of the club is to remember, to reconnect, to reminisce, to remind, to represent, to revitalize, to reach out, to recognize, and to rejoice in our freedoms! The Valiant Veteran’s Club hosts a monthly meeting, luncheon, and events such as inviting historical and military speakers to present to our community.
